Over 400 visitors travelled to Carleton Place in the first ever Homes for the House Tour in Carleton Place and Beckwith. The house tour took place on a rainy Sunday morning on June 3rd offering access to some of the area’s most prominent stone and brick homes including the Scottish Mansion, the Old Stone House, The Old Manse, The Findlay Estate, The Neelin Home and one modern show-home from Parkdale Homes builders.

Spirits were high despite the wet weather conditions. The original artwork, antiques and history of the heritage homes gave visitors a unique experience. Our 70 + volunteers reported that the comments they received were overwhelmingly positive.

Lanark County Interval House would like to thank the following contributors for their help in raising these much needed funds for the shelter and for helping to create a memorable day.

  • The Home Owners – it takes a brave and generous person to allow hundreds of people tour through her/his home.
  • The Volunteers – We needed close to 80 helpers and we are grateful for each and every person who volunteered her/his time at this event! Volunteers were expected to know key details about the homes and ensure visitor safety; we received many compliments on our helpful and knowledgeable volunteers.
  • The Ticket Sellers – these generous businesses promoted the event and sold our tickets
  • The Florists – for creating spectacular floral arrangements; each custom designed to complement the decor of the home
  • The Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum – for providing supporting histories, photos and stories for the homes of the tour. These details were another source of positive feedback from our visitors.
  • The Media – both Ottawa and Lanark County media outlets supported this event. We thank them for letting the public know about the opportunity
  • The House Tour Planning Committee – We had such a strong organizing team. This type of event takes a high level of professionalism, talent and taste to create a classy, well-planned and interesting house tour. Interval House was lucky to have talented volunteers who believe in the work we do.

We couldn’t have done it without all of the support of these individuals and businesses. Thank you.
