24 HOUR CRISIS LINE: 1-800-267-7946

This Year’s Theme

This year’s international theme is Ending Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.
More and more, abuse is happening online — through harassment, cyberstalking, online surveillance, non-consensual image sharing, and digital control. Digital spaces should be safe. Throughout the campaign, we will be sharing resources, learning opportunities, and community voices on how we can create safer online environments and support survivors.
Alongside awareness, we also have a full 16-day calendar of meaningful and engaging events across Lanark County. We hope you’ll join us and take action in whatever way feels accessible to you.
Here’s how you can help:
  • Wear purple on Nov 26 to show solidarity with survivors and those impacted by violence.
  • Follow & share our posts with #16DaysofActivism to amplify awareness.
  • Attend events & vigils in our community, including December 6’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
  • Engage in small but powerful actions: Listen and believe survivors, educate yourself on gender-based violence, speak out against it, and offer support where it’s needed.
  • Every voice matters in this movement. Help us promote change all year long by embracing these powerful actions: Listen, Believe, Educate, Speak Out, Intervene, and Act. And remember our See It, Name It, Change It campaign: when you witness violence, name it, call it out, and be part of the change.
Together, let’s create a community where everyone is safe and supported!

What is the 16 Days of Activism Campaign?

The “16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence” is a global campaign that runs annually from November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to December 10th, International Human Rights Day. This initiative aims to raise awareness about gender-based violence and promote action to eliminate it.

Throughout these 16 days, individuals and organizations around the world come together to advocate for the prevention and elimination of violence, particularly violence directed at women and girls. The campaign emphasizes the importance of education, awareness, and collective efforts to address the root causes of gender-based violence, challenge societal norms, and promote gender equality.

In simpler terms, it’s like a worldwide movement where people join forces for 16 days to speak up against violence, especially the kind that affects women and girls. The goal is to make everyone aware of the issue, work together to stop it, and ensure that everyone is treated fairly and with respect.
