24 HOUR CRISIS LINE: 1-800-267-7946

On October 31st, instead of trick or treating for themselves, a generous group of youth from the 585 Royal Canadian Air Cadets of Smiths Falls decided to look into the community and find a charity to support.

We are pleased that Lanark County Interval House was the lucky charity.

The youth went door-to-door in uniform collecting food. By the end of the night, the squadron had filled a mini van – enough food to fill our pantry – ensuring big savings in shelter food costs this month.

Lanark County Interval House spent approximately $25,000 in food in 2010/2011 fiscal year. With rising food costs, this year promises to have even higher food bills.  With 15-18 people eating three meals a day plus snacks, every donation goes straight to the bottom line of the budget.

LCIH sends out huge thank yous and admiration to the 585 Royal Canadian Air Cadets of Smiths Falls and another thank you to all the households that donated food to the youth. This demonstration of charitable giving supported both the efforts of the young men and women of the Air Cadets and supported the women and children of Lanark County fleeing violent homes.
