Citizens of Lanark County reached out through social media to support Lanark County Interval House. Local online seller, Amy Martin knew that she wanted to support the shelter. So she had an idea – use Facebook to connect with other independent sellers to gather donations and then launch a charity auction right on the social media site. The result was several hundred new and used items for an event that lasted a full month with new items added daily. At the end of the bidding Amy found close to $2000 for shelter programs.
LCIH depends on donations from the community in order to provide our services. Community initiatives like this one raise funds that go directly into programming both in the shelter and in our ongoing support that we provide through our outreach offices.
