24 HOUR CRISIS LINE: 1-800-267-7946

Recently The Hub in Almonte and Lanark County Interval House shared an evening to honour Fern Martin, who has worked fearlessly to advocate for the rights of women and children in our community.

A writer, knowledge keeper and force to be reckoned with, Fern is in the fabric of the foundation of the work of LCIH.  Her leadership and tenacity is something we share with women regularly as if it can be done, it will be done.

In the late 70’s, Fern created a t-shirt with the simple yet powerful words “Women can’t be beat” across the front. It is in celebration of all her hard work that The Hub has relaunched the iconic shirt:

Please consider purchasing a shirt and proudly sporting it in our community to honour the past, respect the present and to demand change for the future.

Fern wearing the t-shirt back in the 70sThank you Fern for your years of community based education and advocacy. We are blessed to have your spunk, determination and compassion woven into the legacy of our agency. We will make every effort to continue to do the work in the way you modeled.

And thank you, Fern, for this awesome shirt that will always remind us of our history and collective strength.

T-shirts are $20.
