FreeWith Guest speaker Dr. Christopher Dietzel, Ph.D.
The purpose of this training will focus on technology-facilitated sexual violence (TFSV) and help them apply what they have learned to address different forms of TFSV, particularly among youth and young adults. Specifically, the objectives are: Provide information about TFSV and other digital harms through an intersectional lens, including through a review of TFSV terminology, trends, and impacts Discuss methods and strategies for TFSV prevention, education, and intervention Raise awareness about resources related to TFSV Practice applying this new knowledge to real-world scenarios to help staff build confidence and develop competence when addressing TFSV.
Christopher Dietzel, Ph.D. (he/him) is a postdoctoral fellow whose work explores the intersections of gender, sexuality, health, safety, and technology. He is co-investigator on Digitally Informed Youth (DIY) Digital Safety, a research project that examines technology-facilitated sexual violence among youth aged 13–18 in Canada. Some of Dr. Dietzel’s other projects focus on LGBTQ+ people’s experiences with dating apps and social media, and he investigates the barriers, harms, and violence that people face when using these digital platforms.
