We want to shine the spotlight on Bentall Kennedy for their incredible support!
Bentall Kennedy is one of North America’s largest real estate investment advisors. They are also Canada’s largest property manager, serving the interests of more than 500 clients across 145 million square feet of office, retail, industrial, and residential properties throughout North America.
Bentall Kennedy in the Community is a company-wide initiative that encourages Bentall Kennedy employees to reach out and help in the community. They get time to do volunteer work individually or as a team and if they fund raise for a particular organization, the company will match the donation!
Last year, a whole team came to the shelter and helped us with our fall property maintenance. (Getting the outside all ready for winter, leaf raking etc.) This year, the employees decided to make Lanark County Interval House the recipient of their annual poinsettia tree fundraising event.
The festive tree is the brain child of Steve Szczygiel. Steve builds a beautiful display of poinsettia’s in the lobby of the building where it brings good cheer to his co-workers and visitors alike. Then when Christmas approaches, Steve sells each of the poinsettia flowers to raise money for charity. What a creative idea!
The company has also sent computer supplies for the agency and for our clients, gently used items for our clients and for the As Good As New Store and a gaming system for the children! They even buy and sell our raffle tickets!
The company has acknowledged that it’s hard for small, rural charities to find support from larger, urban companies. We have so few industries on this side of Ottawa town limits and they are bombarded with requests for charitable donations daily. For Bentall Kennedy to choose to support a small charity that has no national umbrella or huge public presence with which to promote and laud the donations is truly special and unique.
This story is ongoing as Bentall Kennedy employees are continuing to look for ways to support the shelter and our outreach services. We’ll add more to this post in the coming days. In the mean time, please join us in thanking Bentall Kennedy for investing in the community and for helping us help the women and children of Lanark County!
