SUMMARY:Breaking the Silence: Solar Prints and Storytelling Event (Age 16+)
DESCRIPTION:Explore cyanotype in a 2-hour workshop for Sexual Assault Prevention Month—using sun printing for storytelling\, reflection\, and activism. \n\n\n\n\nBreaking the Silence on Sexual Assault: A Cyanotype Workshop for Reflection & Healing \nIn recognition of Sexual Assault Prevention Month\, Lanark County Interval House Community Support (LCIHCS) invites you into a creative\, reflective space focused on breaking the silence around sexual violence and centring healing\, care\, and community connection. \nPresented by Lanark County Interval House Community Support (LCIHCS) and co-led by artist Abby Nowakowski in partnership with LCIHCS\, this workshop invites participants into a hands-on creative experience rooted in reflection\, connection\, and community care. \nThrough a hands-on cyanotype workshop—a sun-printing process that produces vivid blue images—participants will be guided by artist Abby Nowakowski in exploring storytelling through art. LCIHCS team members Jess\, Sadie\, and Emma will be present throughout the session to support the space and offer grounding\, reflective\, and healing-focused activities. \nThis gathering is intended as a shared space for healing\, reflection\, and creative expression. While lived experiences of sexual violence are deeply acknowledged and held with care\, this is not a space for sharing detailed personal trauma narratives. Instead\, we will focus on creativity\, grounding\, and collective care within a supportive and respectful environment. \nThis event is open to everyone. You do not need to identify as a survivor to attend. It is for those who have been impacted by sexual violence directly or indirectly\, as well as those who wish to show care\, solidarity\, and support for survivors and their communities. All are welcome\, with a kindly requested age minimum of 16+. \nContent / Trigger Warning: This event will reference and engage with themes related to sexual assault\, domestic violence\, and violence against women (SA\, DV\, VAW). \nSupported by funding from: Mississippi Mills Community Fund and the Ottawa Community Fund. \nThe Mississippi Mills Community Fund is a public\, charitable organization created by and for the people of Mississippi Mills. The Fund works with donors and the community at large as a trusted partner to fulfill impact philanthropy and bring about positive\, systemic\, and sustainable change.
